These are the qualifications and responsibilities of a Corrosion Monitoring Technician:

  1. A diploma in engineering or a trade certificate is required. Evidence of at least three years of experience in the maintenance and operation of internal monitoring equipment.
  2. With internal monitoring systems and techniques installed in vessels, pipelines, and other facilities, you can converse.
  3. All related equipment must be maintained in a safe and proper condition. This includes coupon holders, coupon holders, and retriever tools, and access and service valves.
  4. Online installation and retrieval at the entire stream and under work pressure. Use corrosion coupons and probes with a high-pressure retriever (up to 6000psi), and a low-pressure retractor (1500psi).
  5. Access vas allows you to communicate with and assist in online hot-tapping under full steam pressure. This includes the use of high-pressure Rohrback Cosasco hot tap equipment (up to 3600psi work pressure) and T.D. Williamson hot-tapping apparatus (up to 1500psi) or comparable acceptable equipment.
  6. Ability to assist with the installation of online automatic data collection units for internal corrosion, data downloading, and data transfer.
  7. Keep the work area clean and tidy.
  8. You will be able to prepare technical reports for daily and weekly work.
  9. Expertise in routine maintenance of all corrosion monitoring equipment.

SCOPE of Work

Monitoring Activities for Internal Corrosion

  1. Based on the hot spots in the corrosion database, planning an annual corrosion monitoring program.
  2. Preparation, retrieval, and replacement of corrosion monitoring components, including but not restricted to: ER probes and LPR probes; Galvanic probes; High-Resolution ER Probes; and Bio Probes.
  3. Handling, laboratory processing, and examination of the retrieved weight loss coupons, evaluation and calculation of corrosion rate, and recording of observations.
  4. Obtaining corrosion probe readings/measurements using appropriate instrumentation. Reports should be prepared at the agreed frequency. Highlight any anomalies or deviations from the expected corrosion rates.
  5. Installation, commissioning, and use of ER data logging system including Microcor systems. Processing and handling of monitoring data. Report compilation using the appropriate software.
  6. Handling and processing the retrieved bio-probes studs, analysis of sessile bacteria, and reporting results.
  7. Preparation, testing, and maintenance of corrosion monitoring access fittings and assemblies. This includes thread cleaning, reaming access fittings, and replacement of worn or damaged components.
  8. Preparation, testing, pressure testing, maintenance, and replacement of damaged or worn parts for online retrievers, service valves, accessories, and tools.
  9. Draining and flushing corrosion monitoring traps

Fluid analysis activities, including chemical injection and sampling

  1. Prepare a complete plan/roadmap for chemical injection/sampling and fluid analysis.
  2. For microbiological testing, as well as for any other analysis or investigations related to corrosion management, fluid and deposit samples will be taken.
  3. Both on-site as well as in the laboratory, microbiological (SRB), and testing.
  4. Maintain an inventory of chemicals that can be injected according to current injection rates.
  5. Report interruptions and follow up on chemical injections
  6. Audit the chemical injection (pump delivery, tank levels) and make a report at the agreed intervals.
  7. Analyze and sample for biocide and corrosion inhibitor residuals.
  8. Correlate corrosion inhibitor residual measurements with corrosion monitoring data.
  9. As per the activity plan, check, repair, and/or advise on the replacement of chemical injection assembly and quills.
  10. Water injection system – Corrosion Management
  11. Site Operations will be contacted by the Corrosion Monitoring Team to obtain daily water injection reports.
  12. Analyze anomalies and link the report to any operational upsets including corrosion-related issues.
  13. Review chemical injection strategies to correct water quality, including corrosion of assets. Also, summarize major events that could affect the Water Injection System’s quality. A water quality report will be issued on a biannual base.

Cathodic Protection Activities

  1. Complete plan/roadmap for cathodic protection monitoring at each facility.
  2. All planned surveys for Cathodic Protection Systems on underground and submerged metal structures are to be completed.
  3. Perform, verify and adjust ICCP TR current and voltage output measurements.
  4. Advanced surveys of CP systems (Soil resistivity and CIP & DCVG), are necessary to identify deficiencies and fix any interference.
  5. Maintenance and testing of CP measurement equipment.

Pipeline Maintenance Pigging Activity

  1. 3.5.1 Follow-up pigging operation by the fancy. The Corrosion group will provide corrosion support and pigging will be done by another agency.
  2. Assure that post-pigging chemical treatments are carried out as planned
  3. Follow-up analysis and sample collection from pigging returns
  4. Inspection of pigs and monitoring of their maintenance and refurbishment

Pipelines’ Intelligent Pigging Activities

  1. Coordinate with the site Operations to ensure smooth execution.
  2. Participate in Risk Assessment activities for intelligent pigging operations.

Positive Material Identification

1. Shall carry out positive material identification as required in field projects/modification jobs, new procurements, and failure analysis to confirm alloy constituents to material specifications. The Contractor shall provide a PMI machine.

Piping System Integrity Monitoring

  1. Support the RBI program of the Company and identify integrity risk locations in a piping system to ensure effective corrosion monitoring.
  2. Management of Dead Legs

Reporting and Recording Activities

  1. Reporting the status of all activities planned or assigned, with a summary of findings.
  2. The timely feeding of the data to the corrosion management database/PACER, and the reporting trends with graphical presentations.
  3. All records must be kept according to ADNOC OFFSHORE Corrosion Management System.
  4. ADNOC OFFSHORE maintains an inventory of all equipment and materials used in the services. This includes reporting on consumption, stock levels, corrosion monitoring consumables, and spares. It also reports on equipment condition and requests for repair/replacement. Stock replenishment is necessary to support the timely completion of services according to plans/schedules.
