Position title
Finance Operations Manager

Role Purpose / Job

This role will manage all aspects of Finance and Operations within the department. It will also manage day-to-day queries about key KPIs, streamline business analysis processes, and act as a business partner.

Principal responsibilities and duties

  • Analyze variance in key KPIs on a regular basis to provide reports to Advisory leadership as well as business units.
  • A proactive approach to identify potential problems and their impact on revenue & costs.
  • As the control point, work closely with finance, operations, and leadership on budgets to ensure that targets are met.
  • To improve performance, analyze weekly billing/collections/revenue status reports and share your insights.
  • Responsible for all MIS queries: Revenue, Direct Cost, Operational Expenses and Provisions. Respond to audit queries. Monthly forecasts.
  • You will need to prepare key sections for month-end MIS reports or Board packs.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, as well as other simple and easily-understood information for all stakeholders, including SLLs and partners.
  • Perform month-end procedures
  • To be able and able to give guidance, you must work independently and have a solid understanding of the business.
  • Assist in the management and execution of departmental projects.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the Systems platform in order to achieve greater automation.
  • Coordination of the preparation of any ad-hoc reports that management requests based on information from multiple sources.

Reports to the Associate director who will be the performance manager.

Skills and knowledge required for the job

  • Understanding the business processes of a consulting company
  • Previous experience with ERP

  • Previous experience in a managerial position

Technical skills / Knowledge

  • Financial accounting knowledge
  • MIS reporting skills
  • MS Office Suite
  • Operating model for revenue from consulting firms
  • Experience in reporting to leaders on P&L items and Balance sheet items
  • Presentation decks
  • Assist the coach/guide & supervise junior staff members in the team
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data

Education requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting.
  • Master's degree with accounting qualification (Preferable).

Experience is required

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in finance operations within a professional service firm.
