Random inspection/audit is conducted to determine hazard or risks in all company buildings and operations. Department is informed of the findings. Recommendations are made to correct potential hazards and prevent injury. Follow-up inspections are performed to verify that the recommended measures have been taken.
- Monitoring the OHS performance of each department and setting realistic goals for improvements with the Department HOD's, Management, Supervisors and staff.
- Make sure all electrical devices used by the safety section are in good working order.
- Assist the Safety Specialist assigned to improve safety at EKFC. Monitor the condition of fire alarm equipment regularly and give advice accordingly to ensure the integrity and reliability of EKFC's fire prevention and protection systems.
Inspect all emergency exits and conduct periodic fire drills. Also, inspect the first aid box. If necessary, take appropriate action.
Perform a random inspection of the contractor's work area and report any violations to safety specialists.
Prepare shift reports that include details about safety issues. Regularly advise the Safety Specialist on the safety status at all EKFC facilities.
To prevent any loss due to non-conformance with safety standards, health policies, or work procedures, the safety specialist must be notified. They will provide advice about preventative steps.
Safety notice boards should be updated on a regular basis. Inspection of safety posters is necessary to make sure they are legible and in good condition.
Assist line managers in incident reporting and accident management.
Assist the safety specialist in safety campaigns, internal cascades and TBT. Also, assist in developing safety campaigns within the department to improve OHS performance, reduce risk to staff, and help to reduce business risks.
Instruct contractors about EKFC safety policies and procedures. Random inspections in the area of work are conducted to verify that they follow the EKFC safety protocol.
Participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings and assess the effectiveness of the remedial measures taken to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, EKFC safety procedures and policies. If necessary, enforce compliance to ensure continual improvement of workplace safety and health.
Training on toolboxes for employees on the shop floor, on topics related to safety, based on accident reports.
Follow the international standard ISO45001 for Occupational Safety and Health 2018 and perform duties in accordance with department work procedures, while adhering to EKFC Policy.
NEBOSH International/General certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Must)
Lead Auditor 45001:2018
Minimum of three years experience in a related role.
